Celtic style tatted bracelets ~ Pulseras de frivolité tipo celta

In my trade with my friend I included two bracelets. Here is a closer view of the pair of them.

They are worked with four shuttles, based on the centre row of these ones by Jane Eborall. They are simpler because there are no joins nor second round, but I think they turned out particularly effective. There is also this excellent tutorial by Gina Brummet that shows how to do the simple braid. I did not use beads, but the construction is the same.

El diseño se trabaja con cuatro navetas, y está basado en el centro de estas de Jane Eborall. Son bastante más sencillas porque no llevan ninguna unión ni segunda ronda, pero creo que quedan realmente vistosas. También está este excelente tutorial por Gina Brummet que muestra como hacer el entrelazado. Yo lo hice sin mostacillas, pero la construcción es igual.

Something I am really pleased about is the simplicity of the end – I got the idea from someone’s photo at InTatters. Let me explain: In the last split ring, I make the second half of the stitches of the first part of the split ring using two shuttles together – the one I was already using and one of the other colour ones. This way, both threads form the core of that bit of split ring. In the second part of the split ring, I tatt the last half of the stitches adding the second shuttle with the second colour over my hand with the shuttle I used for the first part – thus tatting the unflipped stitches over both threads, and locking the two split ring chains together. Then, I do two chains using one thread of each colour on each thread, and alternating a few stitches with each shuttle – these two strings can be used to tie the bracelet around the wrist.

Una cosa que me encanta es la sencillez de la terminación – la idea la tomé de una foto que alguien publicó en InTatters. Les explico: En el último anillo dividido, hago la segunda mitad de los puntos del primer lado usando dos navetas – la que venía usando, y una de las del otro color, de modo de tener dos hilos formando el núcleo de los puntos. En la segunda mitad de los puntos del segundo lado del anillo dividido, agrego la otra naveta del segundo color con la que usé en el primer lado, y formo los puntos sin voltear sobre ambos hilos. De esta manera, escondo los hilos y uno el extremo de las dos hileras de anillos divididos. Luego, uso un hilo de cada color para hacer una cadena alternando un par de puntos con cada naveta – estas dos tiras sirven para atar la pulsera a la muñeca.

In the green one, I forgot to pass the shuttles through the ring made with the other colour after a few rings, so I made a pattern of not passing the shuttles through every few rings. I really like this effect as well!

En la verde, me olvidé de pasar las navetas a través de uno de los anillos del otro color, así que seguí el patrón no pasándolas cada unos pocos anillos. ¡Me gustó mucho el efectó que quedó de esta manera!
